Fourth grade students who went bowling this afternoon will arrive at Clara Peterson at 4:30 p.m.
Today students and teachers are talking about what it means to be a trusted adult. A trusted adult is a teacher, administrator, school support staff, coach, parent, family member, among others who a child feels comfortable going to when they hear something that doesn't feel right to them. In advisory classes, students will be filling out a card to their trusted adult, thanking them for being someone they feel they can trust to SAY SOMETHING.

At PBL Schools students are taking the pledge to Say Something! When they pledge to Say Something they are promising to... 1. Look for the warning signs, signals, and threats. 2. Act immediately and take it seriously. 3. Say something to a trusted adult. When students do these things it will help create a safer, healthier school.
During March 4th - March 8th the PBL schools will be participating in Say Something Week alongside thousands of other schools across the country. Students and staff will participate in a week of activities that will raise awareness about how to create a safer, healthier school, and build a culture where students and staff lookout for each other. We will be focusing on how to build a community of upstanders, and how to acknowledge the trusted adults in our school. Stay tuned for more activities at each school throughout the week!
This week, Mrs. Johnson's and Mrs. Steiner's second grade classes created rubber band cars during STEM Legos class with Mr. Pacey. Each pair of students created a rubber band car. Then each car was measured for the distance it traveled after the rear tires were wound up. There were 3 trials per placement of the rubber band. Then the distance was recorded in centimeters. Questions were asked about what changes were made to make the car go further.

This is from our presentation from Mr. Hess on Feb 23rd. It covered flag etiquette, the proper way to fold the flag, and demonstrating respect for both the flag and our nation. We recited the pledge and enjoyed a riveting trumpet performance by Mr. Hess, involving all Kindergarten classes.
Our Buddy Readers team had an amazing time today, creating connections that extend far beyond the school boundaries and nurturing friendships that will endure. The atmosphere was filled with collaboration, support, and plenty of enjoyment within the Buddy Readers community, transforming education into a thrilling journey. Who participated today? The delightful Kindergarteners from Mrs. Adwell's class and the fantastic 5th graders from Mrs. Goodson's group.

5Essentials Parent Survey: We would like to invite you to provide feedback to assist us in driving our school improvement efforts. The survey is called the 5Essentials Survey, which will help schools and districts identify areas of strength and those in need of support. There is an optional parent survey that goes along with the teacher and student survey. PBL schools will get a report from the parent survey if the school achieves a 20% response rate. We are asking that you please take a few minutes to complete the survey.
The survey is located at: http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/
